MUD - NYC

So, yesterday I took a trip into the city to visit MUD (which stands for Make Up Designory). To give you guys a little bit of background info, MUD is a makeup school with individual courses and programs including fashion, special effects, etc. They have schools based all over the globe, but the two in the United States are New York, NY and Los Angeles, CA.

I stumbled upon them online, as I was looking into attending a makeup school. Amongst all other websites I had seen, MUD's was sleek and sophisticated. After reading on, I got extremely excited about it! It sounded perfect, and I couldn't wait to go check it out. So, I scheduled a tour with Ivory, the head of admissions.

Above is a picture of what they call the MUD shop - which is MUD's very own makeup store filled with regular makeup stands, along with designated shelves for each class; making the makeup buying process easy and fast. Around the block, and the backside of the building, was the temporary entrance they were using since an elevator around from was broken. Upon entering, I was a little bit sketched out. There was no legitimate signs or entrance anywhere, but we eventually made our way to the main office. After filling out some papers, we headed on the tour with Ivory. Although she spoke fast and ran through the information at the speed of light, I found I wasn't interested in the logistics quite yet. I was captured by all of the students working on their models faces as Ivory opened each door as if we were on a game show. In my head I was like "and behind door number 1..." (the doors were actually numbered, too!) I was in literal awe. I wanted to stop the tour and get the work then and there.

All in all, MUD was an aspiring makeup artist's dream. Makeup scattered all over the counter, a model to work with each class, and instructors who looked educated and enthusiastic.
